At the height of Project M's popularity, i was a big fan of the smash modding scene. I never got into 3d modeling, but i did my work with textures and sound, although i never published anything and mostly used my stuff in my personal builds.

After the demise of PM, the thriving community lost so much momentum that I'd thought it'd disappear. It stabilized, with a lot less activity, but activity nonetheless, despite the smash 4 modding scene growing.

Back in the dark ages, while collecting skins for a fun build, i came across a Cave Story's Quote skin for Luigi to use. The link was dead, but the uploader was still fairly active, so i messaged him about the dead link.

A recolor of that skin, however, was available. I thought it'd be fun to try to recreate the original for my own usage while i waited for news from the OP.

After some time, i decided that it would be a good idea to upload my reconstruction as a temporal solution for those who wanted the original skin, so I did (crediting the original). Eventually OP answered that he had the skin somewhere and that he'd reupload it as soon as he could. I linked to his profile and left the site satisfied.

Fast forward four years and i get an email about somebody notifying that my upload became unavailable. I had just recently moved some folders around in my Dropbox which might have broken my download link. Went back to the skins vault to reupload and realized OP never restored the original, so my reconstruction became the only way to actually use that skin.

Feeling some of that good ol' archive panic, i promptly restored my upload and notified the good user who tried to download it. As some say, "if a digital file doesn't exist twice, it might as well not exist", so this post is for both preservation and showcase.
